Amy with her horses

Amy started her riding career while she was attending North Carolina State University at an English pleasure barn in Raleigh.   Amy progressed from weekly lessons, to leasing a horse, to finally purchasing her first horse, Commands Easy Lady within the 4 years she was at NC State.  While at NC State Amy worked as a breeding intern at NC State’s Equine Educational Unit, learning everything she could about breeding and raising young stock.  After college, Amy’s worked at Rougemont Sport Horses in Bahama, NC under the guidance of Dr Ellen Ziemer, DVM and Dr Jerry Waddle, DVM. It was at RSH that Amy bred “Easy” to a local Connemara stallion, Seaborne Schooner and on May 27th, 2003, Journeyman’s Houdini was born.  Journey is now one of GaitWay’s leading lesson horses.

From 2003-2016, Amy worked at Equestrian Arts Institute in Mebane going from a teaching apprentice to Program Director/Assistant Trainer.

Amy has studied eventing and classical dressage with Toney Massinople, Lynn Leath, and Emme Johnston.   She is now taking lessons with Emme Johnston (FEI level dressage trainer) and leasing 20yo “New Lady Day” (aka Nueva.  Nueva is a 20yo Andalusian/TB mare trained/shown through 3rd level dressage. Amy has earned her 1st level scores towards her bronze medal on Nueva and is hoping to earn her 2nd level scores as well.
