Our Programs

Child & Adult Lessons

Our lesson program provides students with a multitude of opportunities to learn about our equine partners. Through unmounted horsemanship lessons, riding lessons for all skill levels, our leasing program, and our competition team, our goal is to foster well-rounded students who not only care about their riding skills but more importantly the horse(s) they are working with.

Comprehensive Lesson Program

In our comprehensive program, students engage in balanced seat riding to understand the intricate biomechanics of both their own body and that of the horse. We prioritize creating an environment where each horse’s unique abilities and requirements are respected, aiding them in achieving balance and symmetry. Our program caters to riders eager to delve deeply into horse knowledge, encompassing not only riding skills but also comprehensive education in groundwork and horse management.

The GaitWay Curriculum

Our lessons are meticulously shaped by a structured curriculum, providing clarity and direction for students, parents, and instructors alike. This framework ensures that each student’s progress is tracked and understood throughout their learning journey. Advancement in riding skills and horse knowledge is contingent upon the completion of both Riding Levels and HorseSense Levels. Upon graduating from each level, students are honored with a certificate, ribbon, and lapel pin at our biannual awards ceremony.

Requirements

We require students to be in a minimum of 1 lesson per week. Every student at GWS must groom/tack their horse and care of the horse after the lesson. Students that are unfamiliar with this will have grooming/tacking as part of their lesson time until they are independent to groom/tack on their own.

Leasing

Students level 3 and above will be able to join our leasing program. This is another wonderful opportunity for students to learn what it takes to “own” a horse, with all the ins and outs of horse management. GWS offers multiple lease packages. For more information, ask your instructor for information on leasing.

Lease Rides

Leasing a horse provides the student the opportunity to ride outside of lessons (called “lease rides”) and be guaranteed a certain horse for the duration of their lease. Students are also encouraged to take part in the care and management of their said lease horse.

Clinics & Events

At GaitWay Stables, we believe in continuous learning and enrichment, which is why we host clinics every season featuring esteemed professionals from the equestrian world.

Our roster of external trainers includes renowned names such as Ashley Parsons, Helen Ingersoll, Daniel Stewart, and many others. Additionally, we actively participate in a variety of events, including Sport of Horses Dressage, War Horse, Made in the Shade I-III, among others. We extend a warm invitation to all students and riders, both from GWS and external, to join us in these enriching experiences, whether it’s through active participation in riding or as auditors.
