Amy Brumbach

(Head Instructor)

Amy started her riding career while attending North Carolina State University. Majoring in Animal Science with the goal for vet school, Amy worked at the NC State Equine Educational Unit and interned at Horizon Farms in Barrington, IL. While at Horizon Farms Amy fell in love with breeding and training, deciding not to go to vet school. After college Amy worked out several breeding farms and then decided to round out her resume with some teaching/training. After a year of apprenticing at a local stable in Mebane, NC, Amy decided that teaching was her calling. She continued teaching in the Durham/Chapel Hill area, while riding studying eventing and classical dressage with Toney Massinople, Emme Johnston and Helen Ingersoll, as well as several other clinicians.

Amy has competed through Training Level Eventing, 1st level dressage, and 1m jumpers. Amy owns Journeyman Houdini, Deceptions Child, and Unpredictable (see more about them in the lesson horse bios) and unborn 2022 German Riding Pony foal (due May 5th, 2022 – we are VERY excited for this new addition!).
Amy loves to teach riders of all ages that are serious about their equestrian education. Since working with Helen Ingersoll, Amy has adopted the natural horsemanship and classical dressage fusion in her teaching and training. Amy develops all of her riders into independent, self-thinking riders, that push themselves to think outside the box and always for the good of the horse.

Suzan Hamilton

(Chief Operator of all Farm Projects)

Suzan is our wonder woman of all farm projects.  If it needs to get done, Suzan will figure out how.  Suzan also fills in as an instructor for our Pony Pal program. Suzan owns, Sullivan, a Palomino QH gelding that is used in our lesson program.  She and Sullivan love to trail ride and compete in hunter paces.

Helen Ingersoll

(Adjunct Instructor)

Helen Ingersoll is the owner of Frog Pond Farm in Cedar Grove, NC and serves as an adjunct trainer at GWS. Helen brings a combination of natural horsemanship and dressage to create a horse that understands balance, softness and confidence. Amy and Helen often work together on training horses, as well as Amy’s personal horses. Helen teaches monthly clinics at GWS that are open to all of our students, as well as outside riders.

GWS Chicago

Chicago is a 2022 German Riding Pony. He has the sweetest personality and is a wonderful mover. He is hopefully going to grow up to be Amy Brumbach’s competition pony. We are super excited to see the future of this special boy!

Bon Jovi

(Barn Mascot)

Bon Jovi is Amy’s 1 year old pup who is the GaitWay Stables Mascot. He is a super friendly dog who will greet you everytime you pull up to the barn.
